Here’s the first of what could be many pages of the Victorian floods. It is something we (hopefully) will never see again and I wanted to document as much of it as possible. One could never fathom the fact that some of these areas received their entire annual rainfall in a matter of weeks. Victoria was a state a searing heat, fires and floods all at once. We were sandbagging on total fire ban days …… ??? There are just so many things wrong with it all – Mother Nature really is having a bad summer. This photo/page is about the flash flooding that occurred on my farm and thankfully due to the quick thinking (the water hit in about 10 minutes) of my son, a bank was pushed up round the house and no water entered – it got to the floor board level. Neighbours, unfortunately were not so lucky and were inundated. The paddocks have all been swamped, pastures lost, stock dead and crops washed away – so sad after more than 10 years of drought.
Materials used: BG Obscure paper, Paper Loft cardstock, Flourish letters, Twiddlybitz chipboard (inked and Glimmermisted), Inque Boutique ribbon and Bella journal note.
